Meet the Midwives

Kelly Graff

WP_001038Kelly Graff has been working at Kenora Midwives since 2010 and has owned the practice since 2014 after Wendy Peterson retired.  Kelly has a degree in Women’s Studies from York University prior to her midwifery training.  She began her midwifery career in Maine at Birthwise Midwifery School in 2005 when she first began attending births as a doula and student.  Since then, Kelly has caught babies in Australia, Philippines, and Dominican
Republic before returning to Toronto to complete her training at Ryerson through the IMPP program.  Kelly is also active as the Northern Regional Representative for the Association of Ontario Midwives and the Chair of the Rural & Remote Committee for the AOM.  She resides in Kenora with her two young children, Ara and Miri and wonderful partner Justin.  Kelly is an avid traveler who loves baking, kayaking, and spending time with her family when she is not midwifing.

Bekkie Vineberg

BekkieBekkie Vineberg is thrilled to be working with the Kenora Midwives!  Before midwifery, Bekkie completed a degree in Kinesiology, and a certificate as an Emergency Medical Technician  (paramedic). She has worked with many different populations including elite athletes, urban aboriginal youth, migrant farm workers and HIV affected communities in many countries.  Bekkie chose to pursue midwifery after completing a Master’s degree in International Public Health at the University of Alberta, she continues to stay connected to her global health field work in countries like Zimbabwe and Guyana.  Bekkie is deeply committed to the principles of equity and justice in sexual and reproductive health and is thrilled to be serving families of Kenora through the strange, wonderful and transformative journey of pregnancy and birth.

 

Wendy Peterson (Founder, Retired)

WP_001039Wendy Peterson established Kenora Midwives in September, 2001.  Wendy is a Registered Midwife, a Registered Nurse and the mother of two children.  Wendy grew up in Kenora, studied nursing and midwifery in England and Scotland, and then returned to Canada.  Wendy was the Nurse Manager of Maternity and Pediatrics at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital before gaining Ontario experience working at Family Midwifery Care in Guelph.  She then returned to Kenora to open Kenora Midwives.

 

 

Sharron & Debby

Sharron and Debby are our wonderful and friendly administrators of the practice.  They will take your calls and enjoy helping in any way they can.
